Informa Markets announces its achievement in organizing of ASEW & PVA 2021 Virtual Edition, while ready to move forward with partners in driving clean energy by organizing ASEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK 2022 (ASEW) in a full platform next year

Informa Markets announced its achievement in organizing the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week (ASEW) & Pumps and Valves Asia (PVA) 2021 – Virtual Edition after joining forces with government and private sectors in showing innovations and technologies for energy sustainability in the ASEAN region through an online platform on www.asew-expo.com/VE.

More than 5,000 entrepreneurs from 48 countries in the energy, environment, energy management, electric vehicles, pump, and valve technology, and related industries joined the event, ensuring the company to moving forward to prepare for the ASEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK 2022 (ASEW) in a full platform next year.

After presiding over the opening ceremony of the ASEW & PVA 2021 Virtual Edition,

Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy, Thailand, revealed that “The ASEW & PVA Virtual Edition event is a platform to determine our efforts to create a clean and environmentally friendly society to become a Carbon Neutrality, which many countries have set by 2050. Thailand has also realized the importance of reducing its carbon footprint. The government has announced the National Energy Plan (NEP 2022) with three main goals: 1. Increasing the share of clean and renewable energy in new electricity generations by at least 50 percent, based on the cost of the long-term energy storage system in 2040. 2. Promote the use of electric vehicles (EV) under the 30@30 policy. 3. Introduce new technologies and innovations to increase energy efficiency by at least 30 percent by 2040, as well as push for a green economy model or Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy.

“The goal of becoming Carbon Neutrality for the country depends on many factors including technological changes, financial readiness as well as cooperation and support from relevant agencies in all sectors both the public and private sectors to jointly push for sustainability and become a carbon neutrality as scheduled in 2065-2070,” Kulit said.

Mr. Krisada Utamote, president of the Electrical Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT), which joined in the iEVTech 2021, an International Conference on Electric Vehicle Technology at the ASEW & PVA Virtual Edition, said that during the three days of the event, we have received good response from entrepreneurs in the electric vehicle industry. The association invited 41 electric vehicle experts from 10 countries to present information related to the electric vehicle industry on various topics under the theme “Moving Towards Carbon Neutral Society: Global Cooperation in Electric Mobility” with special activities such as the Ambassador Forum, which was honored by ambassadors and representatives from Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, England and the United States of America, which are leader countries in the use of electric vehicles. Seminars on various topics related to EV were also held at the event such as on Future of Electric Mobility, Role of EV toward Carbon Neutrality, EV Knowledge Sharing, and Taiwan Mobility Session.

“We have learned guidelines and plans about the way to drive toward the use of electric vehicles from around the world and in Thailand at the event. The recent data showed that the number of registered electric vehicles in Thailand in 2020 was doubled from the previous year. Currently, Thailand has 8,267 BEV electric vehicles of all types. The association will continue to support the growth of electric vehicles in the country in compliance with the goals of the National Electric Vehicle Policy Committee. We hope that under the support from both public and private sectors, there will be a shift towards the use of more electric vehicles, while also have more development on battery and charging station network in the future,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana, director of the Joint Graduate School for Energy and Environment (JGSEE), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, mentioned the 17th Renewable Energy Asia International Conference on the topic “Clean Energy Transition for Post-Covid Resilience in ASEAN” at the ASEW & PVA Virtual Edition event that the conference is the 17th edition to update latest information and important issues including trends and developments in the ASEAN region and others. Participants gained a clearer perspective and learned success stories from experts around the world. The event was well responded to more than 1,200 participants were attended.

He said that nowadays each country and various organizations in particular in the ASEAN region turn to concern more on the environment. For example, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam have faced the climate change problem due to global warming. Consequently, they have arisen awareness on energy conservation and opt to use more alternative energy, Thailand has also set a goal towards Carbon Neutrality in 2065-2070. To achieve that goal, it is very important to apply innovative technologies and smart solutions to control and manage energy systems, especially an increase of renewable energy consumption while also being able to control the energy system to ensure its stability in overall management. Therefore, energy storage and the battery will play a vital role in the matter.

In addition, in Thailand and many other ASEAN countries, Bioenergy is the main factor in, generating renewable energy and supporting the development of the Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model, Efforts to transition from the current economy to a sustainable BCG economy, every related sector including government, industry, education institutes, new technology, human resources, and competitiveness must be strengthened and developed for the transitional, Navadol added.

Mr. Sanchai Noombunnam, Deputy Managing Director of Informa Markets – Thailand said that the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week (ASEW) & Pumps and Valves Asia (PVA) 2021 – Virtual Edition had been very successful, thanks to the good cooperation from public and private organizations, and entrepreneurs in the energy industry to jointly presented innovations and technologies that covering on the development of alternative energy, smart grid system, energy management with AI and 5G technology for environment and pollution management, and the advancement of electric vehicle technology.
