Beatenberg and Sean Koch to Bring Soft Sweet Sounds to Kirstenbosch

Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts will bring a sweet, flowing Sunday like no other on 11 December 2022 with some of South Africa’s top musical acts.

One of the most celebrated bands to emerge from South Africa, Beatenberg, is excited to return to Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts with their brand new EP, On the way to Beatenberg. With members Matthew Field on vocals and guitar, Robin Brink on the drums, and Ross Dorkin on bass, Beatenberg will bring their fans old and new loved songs for all to jam out to. Over the years, the band’s sound has evolved from indie rock to folk to festival dance music, and they’re thrilled to be able to perform their latest work with its organic and intimate sounds for the first time.

“We really love the beautiful surroundings and how it feels like you’re at a big garden party. The audiences have always been extremely good to us at Kirstenbosch, and we’re so excited to return,” said Beatenberg.

Cape Town-based indie-folk artist, Sean Koch, will deliver a fusion of African and western influence accompanied by messages of home, a connection to nature, the ocean and the people around him in his feel-good music. Sean Koch and band members Adrian Fowler and Ross Hiller will open the concert with sunny and easy vibes that can easily be the soundtrack to the South African surf life. Their sound is a hypnotic blend of ambient sounds and flowing voices over a djembe-driven rhythm with delicate guitar melodies. Fans can expect a high-energy set with a mix of old favourites like ‘Feel the Energy’ and bangers from the new album like ‘Subtle Affection‘ and ‘Slow Down‘.

“Kirstenbosch is the pinnacle of venues to play at in SA, in my opinion. I’ve watched many of my favourite artists here since I was a kid, so it has always been a dream to play this amazing venue in front of friends and family looking up at the iconic Table Mountain!” said Sean Koch.

Enjoy an afternoon listening to world-class musical performances on the slopes of Table Mountain. Pack a picnic or preorder from the Kirstenbosch Tea Room or Moyo Restaurant five days in advance.

Tickets cost R190/p – R260/p at www.webtickets.co.za or the Kirstenbosch Ticket Office. Please note that Webtickets is the ONLY online ticketing partner. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden cannot guarantee that tickets purchased from third parties will be valid. (Service fees are not charged, so you should only pay the prices quoted above.)
