Absenteeism in South Africa Is About More Than Just Access to Healthcare
South Africa’s workplace absenteeism rates remain among the highest globally — averaging between 3.5% and 6%, compared to the international benchmark of 1.5%. That translates to around 8 to 15[i] days of absence per employee per year, with some companies reporting even higher levels. But absenteeism is no longer just a matter of “being sick.”
